“I was commuting daily from the GC to Brisbane on a 1050cc naked street bike whilst garaging an immaculate 60s Mercedes-Benz which too often got pulled out for daily chores. I cherished the woven caramel seats in the Benz and every cruise made me feel like I was living someone’s dream, and despite wanting one for years, I knew this wasn’t my dream. That thought began a search that lasted many years, and I’ve learnt that it will probably never stop. With the Benz loaded on a truck and sent interstate, a cheeky grin was plastered on my face. I had a pocket full of cash weighing in my pants like some lucky ticket toward the rig I knew I needed. I skipped through a red XF panel wagon, from there to a 2012 Iveco Daily but with a blink that turned to a beautiful Beige 60 series Landcruiser. An excellent vehicle but i knew the search must continue, taking a break I had an XG falcon ute, until an unassuming rather faded yellow and reasonably priced one owner ‘82 Hilux with a meagre 2.2L diesel was unloaded into my driveway and at first impression, uninspiring, my vision had been untethering like a unspun ball of yarn and I knew I’d see this one through.”
