OUR STORY
Built by people
who live it.
Savanna wasn't born in a boardroom. It grew out of a shared obsession with craftsmanship, adventure, and the belief that where you sleep shouldn't limit where you go. We build vans the way we'd want our own built, with no shortcuts, and nothing left unconsidered.
WHERE IT STARTED
A driveway in Byron Bay.
Oliver grew up swinging a hammer alongside his dad, a carpenter who taught him the importance of workmanship and attention to detail. After seven years with a Melbourne construction company, working his way from apprentice to leading hand, he took a detour to Canada, chasing snow seasons and open roads.
He came back with a clearer head and a second-hand bus, determined to build something entirely his own.
That bus ended up parked in his parents’ driveway in Byron Bay, where Oliver completed the fitout while taking on renovation work. It was there, immersed in the local community, that he crossed paths with Raury.
Raury came from a different world, but with the same instinct. A lifelong tinkerer, he grew up pulling cars apart and spent years building and refining his own vans to chase surf, mountain trails, and winters on the slopes. When friends started asking him to build theirs, what began as a passion quickly became something more.
When the two met, it was clear they shared the same standards, an obsession with detail, refined craftsmanship, and finishes that elevate every build beyond the ordinary. Savanna was built on that foundation.
Today, every van that leaves our workshop reflects that same mindset: thoughtful design, quality craftsmanship, and builds made to be lived in, not just looked at.
THE FOUNDERS
The people behind the builds
Oliver
CO-FOUNDER · LEAD BUILDER & DESIGNER
Oliver came up through the trades the hard way, seven years of commercial construction, early starts, and earning every step. His background spans structural carpentry, project management, and leading teams, giving him the technical range to oversee every stage of a build with confidence.
He's the kind of builder who'll redesign a joinery detail at midnight if it's not sitting right. That restlessness is what keeps Savanna's standard where it is.

Raury
CO-FOUNDER · DESIGN & FABRICATION
Raury is the kind of person who builds things because he genuinely can't help himself. From engine swaps to pop-top roofs, he's been modifying vehicles since he was a teenager, not for show, but because adventure demands it. He's completed dozens of builds, and lived in most of them.
He brings a spatial instinct to every layout that's hard to teach, an intuition for how a space should live, not just how it should look

THE CREW
The cabinet makers
Sam
JOINERY & INTERIOR FIT-OUT
Sam is one of the finest cabinet makers we know. He has been building furniture and cabinetry to a professional standard for years, and his work is what elevates a Savanna interior from functional to exceptional.
Every drawer box, every panel join, every piece of timber selected for the grain; it's done with the same care he'd put into his own home. That's not something you can hire for. It's something you build together over time.
THE WORKSHOP
Tucked into the creative community of Mullumbimby, NSW, our workshop isn't your typical production floor. It's a place where the work is taken seriously, the pace is deliberate, and every van that rolls out has been touched by people who genuinely care how it turns out.
Mullumbimby is a place where craft still means something. We're surrounded by makers, builders, and people who do things properly. That community shapes how we work, and it gives us access to a network of specialist trades who share the same values.
For the work that demands dedicated expertise or a different lens: electrics, gas, certification, and specialist fabrication. We bring in people we know and trust. Not subcontractors sourced for price, but people we’d call mates first.
The same goes for our suppliers, we work with local businesses we trust, and we test and use their products ourselves to ensure they meet the standard we build to.
The result is a build that's genuinely collaborative, fully accountable, and built to a standard we're proud to put our name on.
